" A ransel boy "

yarn on concrete wall, Icchoba, 2006

Made in 2006.

This is the first my art work drawn on the scenes of Naoshima.

I created it with the respect for Naoshima as a visitor loving ART.

Contemporary Art and Life have a very close relation here. Besides,

Naoshima has the action to regain relations with the history and the nature.

I feel a hope.

That's why I draw a child looks up.

"Ransel" is Duch language, called "randoseru" in Japan,

means the backpack often used by elementary shoolchildren.

An old woman said, " I think he is my grandson."

I'm so happy my work got to be familiar for people of this town.

It was not over for an experimental, temporary work.

I come for the maintenance about once a year.

In my staying, I cannot be calm when I wacth a stray travelar,

as if I was an obliging man of the island.

It may be said I have become the side welcoming them.

" A ransel boy " too.
